Jon + Katie | A Beautiful Mass Ceremony in Bettendorf, Iowa

I knew from the moment I met Katie + Jon that they were a very special couple and I was thrilled to have been given the opportunity to capture a very intimate & beautiful marriage. When I asked about their engagement I was SHOCKED to hear just how incredible it was – Jon flew all the way to Italy to surprise Katie while she was there for a visit, hired a photographer and gave her a surprise proposal!! WOW! When you are with Katie + Jon you can just FEEL how much they love each other. It is such a beautiful thing to have witnessed.

So needless to say, I was extremely excited to travel back to Iowa to capture their wedding day. Katie + Jon were married in the most beautiful sanctuary inside St. John Vianney Catholic Church in Bettendorf, Iowa. You couldn’t have asked for a more beautiful church to be married in -it was breathtaking. Before Mass, Katie shared a special gift with her mom & had a first look with her dad and four brothers (she is the only sister to four brothers!) and it was hands down one of the best reactions I have seen in a long time -they really love their sister. She also gave them the cutest mini pictures for the inside of their ties. You will see throughout the day just how INTENTIONAL Katie is with her friends and family. Following the first look, Katie + Jon shared an intimate first prayer to prepare their hearts and share special notes to each other before the ceremony.

Mass was beautiful to witness. It was sacred, reverent & special. This was the most important part of the day and it was a joy to be able to capture it so beautifully for them to cherish forever.

We traveled over to Vander Veer Park before the reception because this is where we took Katie + Jon’s engagement portraits! You couldn’t have asked for a more beautiful day & it was so fun to see the bridal party have fun with each other and be playful before heading over to the reception. They have the best group of friends & family and you can really see that shine through their portraits.

Once at the reception, they shared their first dances with their parents and when it came time for their first dance they surprised everyone with a beautifully choreographed routine to the song “I Get To Love You” by Ruelle. It was like watching a fairy tale come to life!

EVERYONE (literally almost everyone) danced the night away. I told the DJ I had never seen so many guests RUN to the dance floor when it was time for dancing. It was the best way to end the night. I hope you enjoy looking through some of the portraits that shows just how special their day was!

Katie + Jon -thank you SO MUCH for allowing me to witness such an incredible & important day. I pray God blesses your marriage & I can’t wait to see what the future holds for you both.

xo,

Grace
