Ashten + Mackenzie were married at the most gorgeous venue in Burlington, Iowa on June 1, 2024. The Barn on the Ridge truly was a magical place to become husband & wife. Their ceremony overlooked a beautiful body of water surrounded by open land & a gorgeous indoor barn that felt like you were stepping into a fairy tale. It was breathtaking!

What started out as a rainy Iowa morning in Iowa turned into the most beautiful day -full of perfectly timed pockets of sunshine for Ashten + Mackenzie to say their vows to each other surrounded by family + friends who love them dearly.

During the first looks, Mackenzie’s step father surprised her with the most beautiful diamond heart necklace. What a moment! I cannot even begin to describe to you the reaction Ashten had when seeing his bride for the first time -you’ll just have to see for yourself!

When you walked into the venue you were met with incredible decorations that Mackenzie crafted for months before the wedding, a station honoring loved ones who are no longer here & the cutest table where guests could sign a quilt or leave a message on a vintage phone for the couple to enjoy later! Every detail was carefully thought out and executed perfectly. The venue was decorated in beautiful white & lavender details with dainty wine glasses with candles as centerpieces for each table. Another special moment was right before the ceremony -when the family set out a suit jacket Ashten had purchased for his late father to match the bridal party as well as his Bible & photo, set out on a chair in the front row. It felt like he was right there watching his son marry the love of his life.

Right after dinner, we had THE MOST perfect window of sunshine in an otherwise heavily cloudy day so we decided to take advantage of it and sneak away for early couples portraits! They spent the next thirty minutes relaxing and just enjoying each other alone (and with me of course!) and we were able to get dreamy & golden portraits for them to cherish as husband and wife. After their couples portraits were over, Ashten pulled out a note that he had written to his late father to read to Mackenzie in private. It was the most special and intimate moment of the evening and I was honored to be able to witness it. Not a dry eye from any of us -but I am so glad they have this special moment to look back on.

The evening went on with lots of dancing & celebrating and ended with a special last dance shared only between the couple.
