Family, Trips & Weddings OH MY! (a peek into my year so far)

It. has. been. a. minute since I have sat down to write! This year has seemed to go by in the blink of an eye and all glory to God I have stayed busy between my most important role as wife & mom, to working part time at Chick-fil-A as a Marketing Director & staying busy with Grace Keller Photos -I feel like I have blinked and now its almost summer!

2023 has been so amazing so far in more ways than one! We have had grandparents come and visit (which is always the highlight of our year!) to fun adventures with homeschool, and finally GKP picking back up after a painfully slow season during the winter -for real though, going through my first slow season as a business owner was more difficult than I imagined!

Keller Family Updates

After trying to stay warm & not go crazy with being cooped up in the house (Iowa winters are pretty brutal) our Spring started off with a visit from my mom! We had the BEST time with our Mimi & our schedules were packed with fun activities! We visited Kansas City and had the best BBQ, visited Lego Land which was a dream for Bear & celebrated Easter with cuddling goats, going to a movie & eating lots of yummy food!

Immediately after my mom went back home I took the trip of a lifetime with my Operator Jenn to Dallas, TX to be apart of a Marketing Conference with Chick-fil-A. This trip was, so far, the highlight of my time with Chick-fil-A. I learned so much valuable information about my role as a Marketing Director, was able to spend quality time with my Operator & also learn valuable knowledge to put into practice with my own business. I love Chick-fil-A so much and everything I have learned from them over the past 13 years has (I believe) helped me so much in my own endeavors.

Not even a week after this trip our second pair of grandparents made their yearly visit! Brandon’s mom, step dad & sister make a visit every year for Bear’s birthday & we look forward to this trip SO much! We had another week of packed schedules – game nights, family pictures, tulip time, celebrating Bear’s 5th birthday & of course, our typical trip to the Machine Shed (they love it so much!).

All of the grandparents make such a great effort to come see us even though they are all on the East Coast -we are so blessed to have them!

Grace Keller Photos Update

Like I mentioned above, the slow season of Winter threw me for a loop! I was expecting things to slow down -but to go from consistently being full with bookings to suddenly having no bookings was scary as a small business owner! I really had to lean on my community of friends & Brandon to remind me that it will be ok! I had to lean into the Lord and put my trust in Him, after all, He called me to start this business & He will sustain me through it (and He has -time and time again!).

Once the Spring FINALLY decided to show up here in Iowa, bookings started rolling in & weddings starting flowing in REALLY fast! This was such a surprise and something I am so grateful for! With me celebrating my first full year in business NEXT WEEK -I was only expecting to book a wedding here & there for at least a couple of years but to mainly focus on my sweet families & newborns. All glory to God I will be apart of 6 weddings this year (some solo & some 2nd shooting) & already have three weddings booked for 2024. The Lord really is so kind to me & I feel so honored to be trusted with these couples most special moments.

I have already had the most amazing families so far this year & family sessions approaching that I am so happy about! One in particular is really special because it is a family who listens to the same podcast as me (Ghostrunners Podcast -only the BEST podcast in the world! We call ourselves Ghosties & I am proud to be one haha!). Anyway, a fellow Ghostie who lives near me reached out to photograph his family & it will be such a fun and special day!

I also had the privilege to photograph one of my best friends BIRTH & it was truly the most touching & heartwarming experiences of my life.

I give updates about what is going on with GKP not to boast or show that I “have it all together” -because I don’t, and there have been times I have wanted to quit (this just shows how little faith I have sometimes, but that is a post for another day) but I want to show the goodness & faithfulness of God & to show how He has had his hand over me since stepping out on faith and starting my business. I cannot wait to see what the rest of the year has in store & I am making an effort to write more about it! Thanks for reading!
